The Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I All-American baseball teams and National Player of The Year, powered by Diamond, have been announced on June 2.
The 17-man first team, chosen by performances through the regular season and picked by the staff of Collegiate Baseball, features 11 conference players or pitchers of the year, including:
- RHP Drew Thorpe, Cal. Poly (Pitcher of Year Big West).
- RHP Alex Williams, Stanford (Pitcher of Year Pac-12).
- RHP Tanner Hall, Southern Mississippi (Pitcher of Year Conference USA).
- RHP Chase Dollander, Tennessee (Pitcher of Year Southeastern Conference).
- 1B Ivan Melendez, Texas (Player of Year Big 12).
- 3B Max Wagner, Clemson (Player of Year Atlantic Coast Conference).
- SS Brooks Lee, Cal. Poly (Player of Year Big West).
- OF Chris Alleyne, Maryland (Player of Year Big Ten).
- OF Jacob Melton, Oregon St. (Player of Year Pac-12).
- OF Dylan Crews, Louisiana St. (Co-Player of Year Southeastern Conference).
- UT Paul Skenes, Air Force (Co-Pitcher of Year Mountain West).
Collegiate Baseball’s National Player of The Year is Texas 1B Ivan Melendez.
He put up astounding numbers. At the end of the regular season through 54 games, he was first in the nation in home runs (28), slugging percentage (.941) and total bases (190).
Melendez also was second in the nation in batting average (.421), RBIs (85) and ranked third with an on-base percentage of .531. He also belted 17 doubles.
He also had an remarkable defensive season as he only committed one error in 489 chances as the Longhorns’ starting first baseman.
