CB’s National Players Of Week 4-23-18

SS David Garza, Tennessee Tech.: Garza belted 5 home runs over 5 games last week as he accumulated 10 RBI and finished 9-for-22 with 9 runs scored.

RF Steven Wells, Florida St.: Wells had an incredible week as he went 14-for-17 at the plate over 5 games and was 12-for-12 at one point. He hit 2 homers, 2 doubles and compiled 7 RBI with 6 walks. Wells reached base in 22 of 24 plate appearances.  

LHP Cody Bradford, Baylor: Bradford tossed a 1-hit complete game with 10 strikeouts during a 6-0 win over Texas Christian. It was Baylor’s first 1-hitter since the 2011 season.    

RHP Nick Sandlin, Southern Mississippi: After missing a turn in the rotation, Sandlin came back with a limited pitch count against Middle Tennessee and struck out 12 batters over 5 innings as he only allowed 1 hit with no runs. The only runner he allowed was a bloop single to start the second. He struck out the side three of the five innings he worked.   

LHP Luke Heimlich, Oregon St.: Heimlich struck out 12 Oregon batters over 7 1/3 innings as he became the Beavers’ record holder for career strikeouts with 305 in 76 career games.   

1B Andrew Vaughn, California: Vaughn went 11-for-17 with 3 home runs, 3 doubles, 7 RBI and 6 runs scored last week. He is now hitting .437 on the season with 18 homers and 48 RBI with a slugging percentage of .919 and on-base percentage of .568.   

2B Justin Beck, U.C. San Diego: Beck went 9-for-15 at the plate with 3 home runs, 3 doubles, 10 runs scored, 13 RBI and 21 total bases over 4 games. He had a slugging percentage of 1.400 with a .632 on-base percentage.
