CB’s National Players Of Week 3-5-18

RHP Gage Dollar, Alabama St.: Dollar pitched his first career no-hitter during a 12-0 win over Alcorn St. as the game was stopped after 7 innings because of the 10-run rule. The freshman went all 7 innings and struck out 6 with 2 walks.

RHP Bryce Montes De Oca, Missouri: Montes De Oca tossed 7 innings of no-hit baseball during a 7-1 win over Maryland-Baltimore County as he struck out a career-high 12 batters. Two other pitchers finished the no-hitter for Missouri which was the 10th in school history.

RHP Payton Kinney, Omaha: Kinney tossed a no-hitter during a 4-0 win over Ohio. He struck out a career-high nine batters.

RHP Ryan Zeferjahn, Kansas: Zeferjahn struck out a career-high 14 batters over six innings during a 7-1 win over Texas Southern. His 14-strikeout effort was the most for a Jayhawk since the 2014 season.

RHP Adam Hill, South Carolina: Hill struck out 14 batters over 7 innings during a 3-2 win over Clemson. He only allowed 2 hits and walked 2.

RHP Zack Hess, Louisiana St.: Hess had a career-high 13 strikeouts in 7 innings during a victory over Toledo with no walks. His 13 strikeouts is the most by an LSU pitcher since the 2015 season.

LHP Sean Mellen, Northeastern: Mellen struck out 13 batters over 7 innings during a 1-0 win over Villanova with two walks.

OF Matt Pita, Virginia Military Institute: Pits belted 3 home runs, 3 doubles and knocked in 10 runs as he went 11-for-20. He extended his hitting streak to 21 games which dates back to last season.

3B Alex Bohm, Wichita St.: Bohm belted 3 home runs which included 2 grand slams as he collected 9 RBI and scored 7 runs. He pushed his hitting streak to 11 games and is now hitting .452 for the season with 5 home runs and 17 RBI.

OF Wil Dalton, Florida: Dalton hit 3 home runs, a double and collected 9 RBI as he scored 6 runs and went 11-for-23 at the plate.

SS Joey Ortiz, New Mexico St.: Ortiz hit 3 home runs (including a grand slam) with 12 RBI as he went 5-for-14 at the plate and 8 runs scored.

OF Brett Kinneman, N.C. State: Kinneman went 9-for-19 at the plate with 3 homers, 2 doubles, 1 triple and 8 RBI. He has eight home runs for the season.

INF/OF Luke Heyer, Kentucky: Heyer blasted 3 home runs with 2 doubles, 6 RBI and scored 6 runs as he went 10-for-15 at the plate over four games.

LF Zack Canada, N.C. Wilmington: Canada belted 3 home runs and drove in 10 runs as he went 9-for-19 at the plate. He also scored 5 runs.

1B Kevin Woodall, Coastal Carolina: In four games, Woodall hit 3 home runs, 1 double and collected 6 RBI as he went 5-for-14 at the plate and scored 6 runs.
