FLORIDA NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
NOTE: Because of the coronavirus pandemic and the NCAA Div. I baseball season being put on hold, there will be no more Collegiate Baseball Div. I polls for the 2020 season unless something changes with this situation.
TUCSON, Ariz. — Florida (16-1) is ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball’s NCAA Division I baseball poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.
The Gators lost their only game of the week to Florida St., 2-0 at home.
The hottest team in the nation is Mississippi (16-1) which has won 16 straight games after losing the season opener to Louisville. In the season-opening 3-game series against Louisville, Ole Miss won two of three at home.
The only games that were played last week were mid-week contests prior to the season being put on hold because of coronavirus pandemic concerns.
Poll Notes: In other key games last week, Mississippi St. beat Texas Tech. two straight, Georgia lost twice to Georgia Southern and Miami (Fla.) beat Central Florida on the road.
No teams dropped out of the top 30 from last week.

LHP Antonio Velez, Florida St.: Velez led Florida St. to a 2-0 win over Florida as he only allowed 1 hit over 6 innings and struck out 7 and no runs. Going into the game, Florida was No. 1 in the nation with a 16-0 record. They were the only undefeated NCAA Div. I team left.
CF Reese Albert, Florida St.: In two games last week, Albert hit 2 home runs as he went 4-for-7 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. He entered the game against Illinois St. with only 2 home runs on the season and doubled that with a solo shot in his first and second plate appearances against the Redbirds.
LF Alerick Soularie, Tennessee: Soularie belted 2 home runs in one game against East Tennessee St. during a 17-5 win. He went 3-for-5 at the plate with 4 RBI and scored 2 runs.
1B Davis Sharpe, Clemson: Sharpe belted 2 home runs against Presbyterian as he went 2-for-4 at the plate and collected a career-high 5 RBI during a 12-0 win. He also scored 2 runs.
