OREGON ST. NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — Oregon St. (32-3, 16-2 Pac-12) is ranked No. 1 for the seventh straight week in Collegiate Baseball’s NCAA Division I poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.
The Beavers won two of three at UCLA over the past weekend.
The pitching staff features a 1.88 ERA, No. 1 in the nation, with 294 strikeouts and 92 walks over 35 games. Opponents are only hitting .193 against Oregon St. The Beavers have also only allowed 13 stolen bases all season.
Poll Notes: In key series over the past weekend, Texas Christian won two of three at home against Baylor, Clemson beat Wake Forest two of three at home, Texas Tech. lost two of three at home to Oklahoma St., Arizona was swept three straight at home against Utah, Cal. St. Fullerton lost two of three at Cal Poly, Auburn beat Arkansas at home two of three, Kentucky beat LSU two of three at home and also beat Louisville earlier in the week, Florida won two of three at home against South Carolina, San Diego lost two of three at home to Brigham Young, Michigan lost two of three at home to Indiana, Southern Mississippi lost two of three at home to Old Dominion, Long Beach St. swept a 3-game series at U.C. Irvine, Stanford swept a 3-game series at Oregon, Washington lost two of three at Washington St.
Several teams have been red-hot, including Louisiana-Lafayette (8 straight wins), Gonzaga (7), Maryland (7) and Missouri St. (6).
Four teams fell out of the top 30 in Tennessee Tech. (1-3 last week), Oregon (0-3), Coastal Carolina (2-2) and Washington (1-2). New to the poll is Missouri St. (6 straight wins), Stanford (4 wins in a row), Gonzaga (7 in row) and Louisiana-Lafayette (8 straight).

National Players Of The Week
- 1B/2B/DH Dane Tofteland, Indiana St.: Tofteland had the greatest game of his college career with 3 home runs and 11 RBI as he went 4-for-5 against Northern Illinois with 4 runs scored during a 17-8 win by the Sycamores. Two of his home runs were grand slams. What makes the achievement even more amazing is that coming into the contest, Tofteland had 1 RBI on the season and no home runs in limited action.
- RHP Eli Morgan, Gonzaga: Morgan struck out 15 Portland batters over 8 innings during a 13-0 win. He only allowed three hits in the contest. It was the second game this season Morgan has fanned 15 batters.
- 3B Jake Burger, Missouri St.: Burger belted 3 home runs with 11 RBI as he went 10-for-22 on the week with 13 runs scored.
- 1B Andrew Vaughn, California: Vaughn hit two walk-off home runs to help the Bears sweep Southern California. The first was an opposite-field, walk-off grand slam that allowed California to beat the Trojans, 13-9. Then two games later, he launched a 2-run shot in the bottom of the 10th for an 8-6 win. Vaughn ended the week with 12 RBI over four games.
- OF Drue Galassi, Western Illinois: Galassi belted 3 home runs which featured 2 grand slams and 14 RBI over four games. He had a stretch of 9-for-9 at the plate and also added 3 doubles. Overall, he was 11-for-17.
- 3B Dylan Busby, Florida St.: Busby hit 3 home runs with 2 doubles and 10 RBI over four games last week as he was 8-for-18 at the plate.
