Collegiate Baseball Div 1 Poll 6-12-17

OREGON ST. NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL

TUCSON, Ariz. — Oregon St. (54-4) is ranked No. 1 for the 14th straight week in Collegiate Baseball’s NCAA Division I poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.

OSU, winners of 21 straight, won two in a row over Vanderbilt to capture the Corvallis Super Regional. Oregon St. owns the two longest winning streaks in the nation this season at 23 games and current 21-game mark.

The Beavers enter the College World Series with the best winning percentage of any team in the last 35 years. Texas had a 57-4 record going into the 1982 College World Series.

The Beavers hold the all-time record for being ranked No. 1 the longest in any given season in the Collegiate Baseball poll. Prior to OSU’s incredible 14-week run at the top which started with the March 13 poll when the Beavers were 14-1, the old record was set by LSU at eight consecutive weeks during the 2015 season.

The Beavers, Pac-12 champs, have the most wins in league history with a 27-3 record as they surpassed Arizona State’s 1981 ball club (26 victories). Oregon St. won all 10 series in conference play this season, seven by sweeps.

Poll Notes: Six other teams have been red-hot which have all qualified for the College World Series, including Louisiana St. (16 wins in a row), Florida St. (won 12 of last 13), Louisville (5 in row), TCU (5 in row), Cal. St. Fullerton (5 of last 6) and Texas A&M (5 in row).

The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1959 college baseball season.
