FLORIDA NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Florida (40-8) is ranked No.1 for the 11th time this season in the Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I baseball poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.
The Gators have won 11 of their last 14 games and are tied for first in the Southeastern Conference with a 16-7 record with South Carolina. Last week Florida took two of three at Tennessee.
Poll Notes: Several teams of been hot lately. Oklahoma State, Rice and Michigan have each won five in a row.
In key series over the past weekend, South Carolina lost two of three at Kentucky, Miami (Fla.) and Georgia Tech split the first two games of their three-game series, Texas A&M won two of three at home against Vanderbilt, Louisville took two of three at North Carolina, N.C. State lost two of three at Clemson, Washington beat Southern California two of three on the road, Arizona swept a three-game series at home against Oregon State, Indiana won two of three at Minnesota, LSU swept a three-game series at home against Arkansas and Arizona State won two of three at home against Oregon.
Three teams fell out of the Top 30 this week in Oregon State (1-3), Long Beach State (2-2) and Kentucky (2-2). New to the poll is Tulane (31-14), Indiana (28-17) and Michigan (34-12).
The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1959 college baseball season.

NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
- RHP Kyle Simonds, Texas A&M: Simonds pitched the ninth complete-game no-hitter in school history during a 3-0 win over Vanderbilt. The only Vanderbilt runner reached base on an error with two outs in the first inning. He then retired the next 25 batters. He only had one 3-ball count the entire afternoon and only needed 83 pitches to throw the nine-inning complete game.
- OF Kevin Strohschein, Tennessee Tech: Strohschein flirted with a national record for consecutive hits (14) as he started the three-game series against Southeast Missouri State 9-for-9 with two home runs, three doubles and 5 RBI. He finished 9-for-11.
- LHP Pat Krall, Clemson: Krall struck out 13 batters in 16 innings to earn two wins against Florida State and N.C. State. He only allowed one run and four walks over that span.
- OF Brandon Soat, IPFW: Soat was 13-for-15 in a three-game series against South Dakota State. He hit one home runs, two triples, three doubles, 11 RBI, 7 runs scored and 23 total bases.
- DH Jeremy Montalbano, Tulane: Montalbano belted four home runs over three games against South Florida as he went 7-for-14 at the plate with 7 RBI.
