NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

  • RHP Cody Sedlock, Illinois: Sedlock was masterful in 10 2/3 innings against Ohio State as he struck out 14 batters and allowed no runs on four hits as he threw 132 pitches. He got a no decision in the game that went 15 innings and was won, 1-0 by Illinois.
  • OF Logan Gray, Austin Peay: Gray belted four home runs with two doubles and 14 RBI over four games last week. He was 11-for-18 with 7 runs scored.
  • LHP Aaron Leasher, Morehead State: Leasher struck out 15 batters during a 2-0 complete game victory over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. He struck out at least one batter in 7 of the 9 innings he pitched.
  • LHP Wayne Wages, Georgia State: Wages threw a perfect game for 8 1/3 innings before finishing with a one-hit, 10-0 shutout over Appalachian State. He struck out a career-high nine and walked none. He retired the first 25 batters in order.
  • OF Gene Cone, South Carolina: Cone was 10-for-12 during a three-game series against Missouri with 6 RBI, four doubles and one triple. He set a school record with his 27-game hitting streak in the final game of the series. It’s the longest active hitting streak in Division I this season.
  • DH Quincy Nieporte, Florida State: Nieporte belted three home runs, three doubles and 10 RBI as he was 8-for-15 at the plate over five games last week.
  • 1B Alex Lee, Samford: Lee hit three home runs with 10 RBI as he was 9-for-18 at the plate over 5 games. He also scored seven runs.
