MIAMI (FLA.) NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER (www.baseballnews.com) POLL

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Miami Hurricanes have unseated Florida St. as the No. 1 ranked team in the latest Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll after beating the Seminoles two of three games in Tallahassee, Fla. over the past weekend.

Florida St. had been ranked No. 1 in the Collegiate Baseball poll eight of the last nine weeks heading into the weekend showdown. IIt marked the third straight year in the UM-FSU series that the Hurricanes have won the series in Tallahassee. The two teams will meet again this weekend in Miami to complete the 6-game set.

POLL NOTES: The longest winning streak in the nation came crashing to a halt as Florida Atlantic saw its NCAA Division I record-tying 34-game streak stopped at Jacksonville University in a 2-1, 7-inning loss. Other red-hot teams include Wichita St. (11 wins in row), Wake Forest (9 wins in last 10 games), Arizona (9 consecutive victories), and Rice (7 straight wins).

The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season.
